It’s no surprise that the Nintendo Switch is considered the console for cozy games. With first-party titles like Animal Crossing (the cozy gaming gold standard) and a huge library of indies, there’s no shortage of games to unwind with. Plus, what’s better than curling up with a warm blanket, a cup of tea, and your Switch in hand?

Whether you’re passion is planting crops or cracking cozy puzzles, you’re bound to find your next new game on this list. Here are the 25 best cozy games for Nintendo Switch — at least, according to me.

Cozy Puzzle & Logic Games for Switch

Cozy gaming doesn’t mean careless gaming. Sometimes I want to give my brain a little something to chew on, but without the stress of countdown timers or big boss battles. If you’ve already done the Wordle for the day (and maybe the Mini, the Spelling Bee, and the Connections too…), these puzzle and logic games for Nintendo Switch are the perfect way to keep your gears turning.

1. A Little to the Left

In A Little to the Left, you’re tasked with tidying up everyday spaces — much of which involves sorting household objects and rearranging them in satisfying patterns. There are over 100 levels to keep you occupied, and I found that the puzzles offered a nice challenge without ever becoming frustratingly difficult. There’s also a mischievous cat who loves to interfere with your efforts, if you’re into that sort of thing.

Play this one if you:

  • Have a color-coded system for everything
  • Want a relaxing game with bite-sized puzzles

2. Is This Seat Taken?

Is This Seat Taken? is a surprisingly addictive puzzle game where your job is to decide who sits where. This one has a simple premise but a surprising amount of depth. As you try to find the perfect seating arrangements in cars, theaters, and concert venues, you’ll quickly discover each character’s unique quirks and preferences.

Play this one if you:

  • Like light puzzles mixed with storytelling
  • Want short, replayable sessions
  • Enjoy cozy people-watching vibes

3. Unpacking

I hate moving. I held off on playing Unpacking for a long time because the idea of turning the grind of moving into a game just sounded…miserable. Big mistake! This is easily one of my favorite games of all time.

In Unpacking, you (no surprise here) unpack moving boxes and find the perfect place for each item in your new home. The game follows the same character from childhood through adulthood and manages to tell an incredible story without any words at all. Fair warning: this one did make me cry.

Play this one if you:

  • Find satisfaction in arranging and decorating
  • Enjoy tactile gameplay mechanics
  • Aren’t afraid to shed a tear or two

Cozy Farming Sims on Switch

I know some people in the cozy gaming community are burnt out on farming sims, but there’s a reason these games have been dominating the genre since the days of Harvest Moon. They have a satisfying rhythm to them that’s almost meditative. If you’re in the mood for whacking trees, tilling dirt, and surprising your neighbors with random forageables you found on the ground, these cozy farming sims for Nintendo Switch are worth a try.

4. Stardew Valley

What do I even say? Stardew Valley is the crown jewel of cozy farming sims. It reinvigorated the genre long after games like Harvest Moon had their hay-day (pun intended). And, for better or worse, it spurned a new wave of farming sim titles over the past few years.

Stardew Valley has it all: crops, animals, mining, fishing, romance, festivals — plus, an incredibly talented modding community and an endlessly passionate fanbase. I started playing this game when it was released in 2016, and I’m still finding new reasons to return to Pelican Town.

Play this one if you:

  • Haven’t yet — seriously, what are you waiting for?
  • Want the definitive cozy farming experience
  • Enjoy endless replayability

5. Echoes of the Plum Grove

You get to watch generations pass in Echoes of the Plum Grove, a unique farming sim with survival elements where your choices ripple outward into the community you’re building. Unfortunately, sometimes, so does an outbreak of smallpox.

Play this one if you:

  • Love long-term progression and legacy systems
  • Want a farming sim with a sense of history (and a wee bit of danger)

6. Ooblets

Imagine if Pokémon and a farming sim had a child, and that child was obsessed with dance battles. That’s Ooblets. You’ll grow crops, raise adorable creatures, and send them off into goofy, rhythm-based dance competitions. It’s delightfully strange and endlessly replayable.

Play this one if you:

  • Love collecting cute critters
  • Want farming with a sense of humor
  • Enjoy cozy games that don’t take themselves too seriously

7. Roots of Pacha

Roots of Pacha lets you step into the Stone Age. Instead of inheriting an old farm, your clan will be discovering farming, animal domestication, and even inventions for the very first time.

I’ve heard this game called “Stardew Valley, but prehistoric.” Maybe, but this game is so much more than that. Yes, Stardew fans will definitely enjoy Roots of Pacha — but it also adds plenty of new mechanics and minigames that make it worthy as a standalone addition to the genre.

Play this one if you:

  • Want a unique twist on the classic farming formula
  • Are looking for a great co-op cozy experience
  • Love charming pixel art

Cozy Life Sims on Switch

Ah, life sims. These are the games I reach for when I want to feel rooted in a place full of warmth and charm, but the real world just isn’t cutting it. Each of these life sims for Nintendo Switch offers a cozy escape into an adorable new world.

8. Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is basically the blueprint for cozy gaming. You move to an island, build your dream home, befriend animal villagers, and spend your days fishing, catching bugs, and decorating your island to your heart’s content. It’s comfort food in game form.

Play this one if you:

  • Love daily rituals and seasonal events
  • Want limitless decorating freedom
  • Like the idea of a game that follows a real-world clock

9. Disney Dreamlight Valley

Okay, so what if your Animal Crossing island was filled with Disney and Pixar characters? Disney Dreamlight Valley lets you live alongside everyone from Belle to Buzz Lightyear — all while farming, cooking, and unlocking new areas. This game is what I assume it feels like to move into the Magic Kingdom, minus all the lines.

Play this one if you:

  • Are a Disney adult or just have a little Disney nostalgia
  • Like the idea of a farming/life sim hybrid

10. Hello Kitty Island Adventure

Hello Kitty Island Adventure drops you into a colorful life sim with Sanrio friends, where you can explore and decorate environments that feel straight out of a sticker book. Like Animal Crossing, this one also features seasonal events and a real-world clock for some mechanics. It’s also about as cute as it gets.

Play this one if you:

  • Adore Sanrio characters
  • Want an upbeat, wholesome life sim

11. Locomoto

What if instead of running a town, you were running a train? In Locomoto, you decorate cars, attend to cute animal passengers, and create your own traveling community on wheels. This one’s part life sim, part adventure, and 100% charming.

Play this one if you:

  • Like management games with a cozy flair
  • Enjoy beautiful scenery and lo-fi tunes

Cozy Story & Narrative Games on Switch

Some titles feel less like a video game and more like an interactive story. These narrative games for Nintendo Switch are filled with heartfelt dialogue, memorable characters, and messages meant to stick with you long after the credits roll.

12. Coffee Talk

It’s late, it’s raining, and you’re behind the counter of your own little café that’s only open at night. In Coffee Talk, you brew drinks for quirky customers while listening to their stories unfold — and playing it really does feel like a warm cup of coffee on a chilly day. Plus, if you enjoy it, the game also has a sequel and another spin-off on the way.

Play this one if you:

  • Want dialogue-driven gameplay
  • Love slice-of-life storytelling
  • Enjoy moody late-night vibes

13. Spiritfarer

This was another tearjerker for me. In Spiritfarer, you play as Stella, a character tasked with guiding spirits on their final journey. There are elements of building, farming, and management woven in, but at its heart, it’s a deeply moving story about letting go.

Play this one if you:

  • Want emotional, heartfelt storytelling
  • Enjoy cozy management gameplay
  • Can tolerate bittersweet experiences

14. Tiny Bookshop

The game that took every book lover’s daydream and turned it into a cozy management sim. In Tiny Bookshop, you run your own traveling bookshop, curating your shelves, recommending the right reads to locals, and uncovering stories in the small, seaside town of Bookstonbury. Most of the books you stock are titles in the real world too, adding an extra layer of fun.

Play this one if you:

  • Love books, of course
  • Want simple management mechanics with story flair

15. Wylde Flowers

Wylde Flowers is a unique farming sim that’s heavily story-driven. You’ll tend your garden by day and concoct magical brews by night, all while getting to know the townspeople of Fairhaven — each of whom has an intricate backstory and is fully voice-acted (!!!).

Play this one if you:

  • Want a farming sim with narrative depth
  • Love whimsical and witchy cozy games
  • Enjoy romance and character-driven plots

Cozy Adventure & Exploration Games for Switch

I’m a homebody in real life, but nothing makes me feel cozier than a game where I get to aimlessly wander. In these cozy adventure games for Nintendo Switch, you’ll get to climb, swim, and fly through charming worlds with no rush to get anywhere fast.

16. A Short Hike

In A Short Hike, you play as a little bird on a big mountain whose only goal is to reach the top. It’s a bite-sized masterpiece of a game filled with charming characters, silly side quests, and the joy of exploration.

Play this one if you:

  • Want a short but impactful adventure
  • Enjoy cozy outdoorsy vibes
  • Love chatting with quirky characters

17. Dave the Diver

Dave the Diver will have you diving the deep sea by day and running a sushi restaurant by night. With over 200 sea creatures to catch, a cast of eccentric characters, and a very satisfying gameplay loop, it’s easy to sink dozens of hours into this one.

Play this one if you:

  • Have a quirky sense of humor
  • Want gameplay that mixes chill with bursts of action
  • Enjoy management tied to exploration

18. Lil Gator Game

In Lil Gator Game, you play as an alligator exploring an island playground, climbing mountains, and gliding through forests. Your mission? Make friends. With quests you can complete at your own pace and no health bar to worry about, this one’s the perfect stress-free exploration game.

Play this one if you:

  • Enjoy whimsical, carefree gameplay
  • Like short but heartwarming adventures

Cozy Platformers on Switch

Not all platformers are tough-as-nails challenges like Celeste. If you prefer your games to feel a little less like running gauntlets and a little more like skipping stones, these cozy platformers for Nintendo Switch are worth a try.

19. It Takes Two

It Takes Two is a co-op platformer about a couple finding their way back to each other after a magical spell shrinks them down to the size of their daughter’s toys. You’ll have to rely on your Player 2 to make it through this one, as most of the puzzles and platforming sections can’t be completed solo. This one’s challenging enough to be entertaining, but not so tough that it becomes frustrating.

Play this one if you:

  • Love couch co-op games like A Way Out or Split Fiction (both from the same studio that made It Takes Two!)
  • Enjoy a mix of humor and heart
  • Are looking for a great game to play with your partner or best friend

20. Ori and the Blind Forest

Few platformers are as gorgeous as Ori and the Blind Forest. Don’t be afraid of the action-platformer label. With fluid movement, gorgeous aesthetic environments, and an emotional story, this one is both beautiful to watch and a joy to play.

Play this one if you:

  • Love stunning visuals
  • Want a platformer with emotional weight

Atmospheric or Dark Cozy Games for Switch

This may be a controversial take, but cozy doesn’t always have to mean sunshine and rainbows. Sometimes cozy comes in the form of worlds that are moody, mysterious, and a little spooky — but still strangely comforting. If that sounds like your vibe, give one of these dark cozy games for Nintendo Switch a try.

21. Cult of the Lamb

You’re a lamb starting a cult. That’s the premise, and yes, it sounds a bit bizarre. But Cult of the Lamb balances these darker themes with a quirky, charming art style and surprisingly cozy village-building mechanics. If you can look past the blood sacrifices and demonic rituals, you’ll find a really satisfying cozy roguelike game waiting for you.

Play this one if you:

  • Like your cozy with a twist of spooky
  • Enjoy roguelike elements and combat in small doses

22. Little Nightmares

Little Nightmares is a puzzle-platformer where you guide a young child named Six through levels made up of oversized, eerie spaces. Is it a little creepy? Admittedly, yes. But it’s never truly scary, and it manages to be oddly comforting if you like cozy, emotional storytelling.

Play this one if you:

  • Want a moody atmosphere
  • Enjoy light puzzle-platforming
